Outside Karnak, there's a forest with only a single type of enemy which is vulnerable to fire magic.Gold Needles are purchasable in the castle above, and costs less than the Gil received for killing the monsters. It is also possible to kill these monsters instantly (one at a time) by using the Gold Needle on them.AND the castle has its own Inn and save point. This makes it the ideal grinding spot for Jobs for a good portion of the game. Groups of two give you 4 ABP, while groups of five give you 8. They come in groups of two and five, and are vulnerable to the Blue Magic spell Level 5 Death. The basement of Bal Castle, and only one kind of enemy: Objet d'Art.If you have a Beastmaster in the party, however, those monsters can be controlled with the "Control" ability, and can be made to kill themselves for massive experience. When you first go there, you'll meet dragons who are much too tough for you. You can also get Cat Claws from panthers, a decent equip for Yang when you recruit him not much later, and Poison Arrows from pythons if you arm your Squishy Wizards with bows. Due to the way the world map is divided into enemy-containing quadrants, going as far north of Mount Ordeals as possible will allow you to encounter enemies from the area around Troia that, while able to slaughter you messily if you're not careful, also drop about 8 times the experience and gold than the enemies you're supposed to be encountering drop.(Unless you're playing a version that lets you switch party members, in which case Cid misses out as he hasn't been in your party yet, and Palom and Porom miss out if you're actually soloing because they're actually in your party, and KO'd characters do not get EXP.) What's more, all party members you've ever had in your party to that point gain experience even when they're not in the party - including Kain, Rosa, and Rydia, meaning the only member of your final party missing out on a large experience boost is Edge. Just fighting all the monsters you normally come across as you walk down Mount Ordeals will get Cecil to level 10 easily. When Cecil class changes from a Dark Knight to a Paladin, he goes back down to level 1, but he's still powerful enough to deal real damage to the enemies, especially the undead ones. Grinding on Mount Ordeals with a solo Paladin Cecil makes most of the next few dungeons (Lodestone Cavern, Tower of Zot, Sealed Cave) far more bearable.Unfortunately, Lake Dohr can't be accessed after you defeat Leviathan, however Bahamut's Lair remains open as long as you need it. Even better than the Undersea Cave, though you can't reach them until you get the third airship, the Invincible. There's also Lake Dohr and Bahamut's Lair, at least in the DS remake.Just one runthrough to get all the treasure inside will level your party up by at least 3-5 levels. The Undersea Cave is a completely optional place which gives a lot of experience for comparatively little effort. Many a player have used this strip to battle the magic-based enemies to level spells up against the Flans that are immune to several status effects (such as Toad, which pays dividends when the party gets the snowmobile later in the game and can access the minigame), which in turn also increases mana and other stats. Directly south of Altair is a strip of land where you fight enemies from the Mysidian encounter table (with the exception of the Pixel Remaster version, in which the enemies there are the same as the ones closer to Altair), similar to the first game. The area around Mysidia itself is less dangerous and can be reached easily with the ship, should you wish to grind up, shop around in Mysidia, or loot the Cave of Mysidia before you're expected by the plot to go anywhere near there. ![]() The path to Mysidia from Altair is filled with very deadly enemies. If you can handle the monsters, a couple of minutes of grinding can net you dozens of tomes, including several Game-Breaker spellsand any tomes you don't want can be sold for a very handsome sum. The area between Fynn and the Palamecian desert isn't too difficult, and many of the enemies encountered along the way drop spell tomes.

Apple has released another round of security updates to address vulnerabilities in iOS and macOS, including a new zero-day flaw that is being actively exploited by attackers. ![]() It also lets you check your network speeds, from both your ISP to the modem and from Google Wifi to your device, and the strength of signal between each node. The app walks you through setting up a new network, naming it, securing it with a password, and placing the Wifi units throughout your home. Setting up the Wifi system is done through Google’s new Wifi app for iOS and Android (formerly the OnHub app). (This is essentially the same hardware found in each Eero point.) The Wi-Fi hardware in each unit isn’t especially remarkable, but when you have multiple points in your home, the need for each one to be high-powered diminishes. ![]() It is secured with the standard WPA2-PSK protocol. Under the hood, the Google Wifi has AC1200 2x2 Wave 2 capabilities and supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11a/b/g/n/ac networking. It also doesn’t have a USB port to attach a storage drive for media or backups, which many routers provide. That’s about it for the Wifi’s exterior hardware - unlike traditional routers that might have multiple Ethernet ports, the Wifi needs a network switch to expand its port selection (just like the Eero). On the bottom of the Wifi unit is a power port and two gigabit Ethernet jacks: one for an internet connection from your broadband modem and a second to attach hardwired devices, such as hubs for smart home products. There’s a lone light between the two pucks that indicates status - blue for setup, white for connected - which can be disabled via the Google Wifi app. It’s about twice as tall as the Eero’s squircle, and can be best described as two hockey pucks that have been painted white and stacked on top of each other. Fortunately, Google Wifi does: each unit is a compact, unobtrusive cylinder that can be tucked away on a shelf or counter and doesn’t look like a piece of computer equipment in the middle of your living room. But since mesh systems work best when they are out in the open and spread throughout your home, they should look somewhat nice. The Google Wifi units are designed to live politely in your home Photo by Dan Seifert / The Vergeĭesign has always been an afterthought with traditional routers, taking a backseat to functionality - and that has meant big, ugly designs with spidery antennas. Google Wifi, while not the fastest system I tested, hits a good balance between speed, coverage, ease of use, and cost, which makes it a compelling option if you’re looking at a mesh router system. It’s an ideal candidate for a mesh network system, and all three systems provided much better coverage than a single router has in the past. Though my home isn’t especially large, it presents challenges to traditional routers, thanks to older construction and lots of walls. To put Google’s claims to the test, I compared it to Eero and Orbi in the same environment. I’ve spent the past week testing a three-pack of Google Wifi in my modest, two-story home. Additional units can be added for coverage beyond that. Google says a single unit can cover a 1,500-square-foot home, while a three-pack will span a 4,500-square-foot residence. That’s a lot less than the $499 Eero asks for a three-unit setup and still cheaper than Netgear’s well-reviewed $399 Orbi, yet it makes many of the same promises. Google Wifi, which is hitting stores today, is sold individually ($129) or as a three-pack ($299). Easy guest network setup and parental controls are also part of the Wifi pitch. In addition, Google designed the product so that it can be easily set up via a smartphone and managed and controlled remotely. Google Wifi also leverages both clever hardware design and cloud-based intelligence to make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi signal throughout your home, no matter its size, construction, or layout. First of all, Google is making it directly. But Google Wifi is different from what Google did before. Google says that the Wifi system is the product of three-and-a-half years of work - and it has previously released a router, called the OnHub. ![]() Mixing a bit of the best of the previous entries modes all in one long, RPG narrative driven story. Instead of advancing the story they decide to go backwards, and they set the game during the time period of the original Soul Calibur while also bringing fighters from the later games such as Tira and Zasalamel. Soul Calibur has always advanced the story in each successive entry with older characters, newcomers who used retired fighters styles and a story-line that has spiraled away from the original cast. Right off the bat the most obvious change is the shift in timeline. Following in the steps of Tekken 7, Soul Calibur VI successfully updates the classic gameplay with new mechanics that mix well with the old ones. ![]() Legio X saved the day in the Battle against the Nervians in 57 BC. One of the legionaries jokingly said that Caesar was better than his word: he had promised to make them foot guards, but now they appeared as equestrians. This incident earned the legion its nickname Equestris (mounted). Caesar ordered a group of his Gallic auxiliaries to dismount and had legionaries from the 10th ride in their place to accompany him to the peace conference. Ariovistus made this a condition knowing that Caesar's cavalry was composed mainly of Aedui horsemen whose loyalty to Caesar was questionable. Prior to battle, Ariovistus suggested a peace conference but insisted that each side should only be accompanied by mounted troops. They played a central part in Caesar's defeat of the Helvetii tribes, preventing their migration from present day Switzerland to western France.įollowing the defeat of the Helvetii, the leaders of the Gallic tribes petitioned Caesar for his aid against Ariovistus, king of the German Suebi tribe. ![]() Almost immediately, in the summer of 58 BC, the legion fought in two major actions, the battles of Arar and Bibracte. The Tenth played a crucial part in the Gallic Wars, fighting under Caesar in virtually every battle.Īt the beginning of the Gallic campaign, Caesar brought the 10th legion from Spain (with the 7th, 8th, and 9th legions). The campaign in the summer of 61 BC was very successful and the 10th Legion showed itself to be brave and loyal to Julius Caesar. ![]() Enlisted in March, the legion took as its emblem the bull, an emblem which proved popular with other legions such as Legio V Alaudae ( Larks), Legio XI, Legio XII Victrix, and Legio XIII Gemina. Caesar needed a third legion for his planned campaign and so he immediately enlisted a new legion, the 10th Legion. He already had two legions based in the province, the 8th and 9th Legions, which had been enlisted by Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus ( Pompey the Great) in 65 BC. When Gaius Julius Caesar arrived as Governor in the province of Baetica or Hispania Ulterior (modern Andalusia), as it was in 61 BC, he immediately decided to subdue the west and northwest areas (modern day Portugal). 1.2 Gallic Wars and the invasion of Britain.
